National voter registration and mail-in voting standards

  • each state must have an automatic voter registration system (with opt out)
  • government responsibility to keep that information up-to-date
  • same day voter registration at early voting or Election Day
  • Minimum 15 days of early voting for federal elections, at least 10 hours a day with at least some time before 9 AM and after 5 PM
  • Limitations on how voter rolls can be purged
  • states required to allow no-excuse absentee voting

Nonpartisan redistricting commissions

  • each state must use independent commissions to approve congressional districts. Commissions made up of 5 Dems, 5 Reps, 5 Independents.

Campaign finance law changes

  • super PACs and other groups disclose their donors publicly
  • a public funding match for small-dollar donations, financed by fees from corporations paying penalties
  • Facebook and Twitter report source and amount of money spent on political ads

Ethics rules for public servants

  • create ethics code for Supreme Court justices
  • stop allowing congressperson to use taxpayer money to settle sexual harassment / discrimination lawsuit
  • more oversight on lobbyists and foreign agents

Presidential candidates must disclose tax returns
