Evitability

Evitability

The opposite of inevitability. Used by Daniel Dennett to describe how he thinks we should work to manage thinking about Free Will within his version of Compatibilism.

The ability of an agent to anticipate likely consequences and act to avoid undesirable ones. Evitability is entirely compatible with, and actually requires, human action being deterministic.

(Don’t fully understand this yet, I may have it wrong and it may be different than how I think about using this concept, I might need to create my own idea for this)
