Some other thoughts about the design
I still think a dark / light mode button is unnecessary and it’s better to use the system setting. It’s something that should be a system level setting, you shouldn’t have to worry about each website’s dark / light mode button.
I guess, if the default is the system setting it’s ok to have the button. But it’s not minimalist.
