Communicating and transfering ideas, especially nascent ones, can be difficult.

I’ve experienced firsthand the attempt to verbalize a feeling or a thought that hasn’t fully settled yet. It may be compelling to you in your head but it is often hard to communicate everything in that to others.

Andy Matuschak describes a related problem in Conversation with others often emphasizes the most well-understood elements of an idea. A possible solution to this is to Use intentionally ambiguous naming to avoid restricting growing or uncertain ideas.

But if you’re doing something original, the most interesting elements are the ones which others—and you!—understand least well. Particularly early on, you may not be able to articulate the new element you’re reaching for very clearly.
