Incremental Reading
Initially I was stirred to this idea from this writing by
Michael Nielsen

Plenty of other readings from Piotr Wozniak, Andy Matuschak, Michael Nielsen, and others in the Supermemo, Anki, and other communities.

This was a bit revolutionary for me as a concept, and it was one of the main pushes that started me down this Spaced Repetition, Incremental Reading, etc rabbit hole in 2021/02
I feel it put a name on the idea that I had been thinking about after first revisiting Anki and Spaced Repetition in 2021/02. With Spaced Repetition, Memory is a choice. That same idea translates to consumption in the form of Incremental Reading. From there, I imagine that this Cognitive Optimization way of interacting with information may have even larger implications (the size of those implications has expanded thanks to Andy Matuschak coining this term).
This is not the same Incremental Reading as described in Supermemo, but it carries over a lot of the important aspects. The bigger aspect that is lost is the preservation of order and the ability to read a text both incrementally and sequentially.
This provides a lot of the benefits of Incremental Reading. Except for the part where the reading is actually divided and scheduled for you, I still have to do that on my own for now. Also, the highlights are not presented in order of the reading, which is an issue as well.
