Confirmation Bias|confirms

It seems to have become popular on the internet to reference the Dunning-Kruger Effect. One suspicion I have is that it is popular because the effect Confirmation Bias|confirms our belief that we are smarter than most, and thus we have an excited tendency to use it as an explanation for a phenomenon.
