Disruptive innovations
Worse on the existing dimensions of value, but win on a new dimension of value
eg
Google Docs vs Microsoft Office
Doesn’t necessarily require a change in architecture
Disruption can be hidden by market growth in the disrupted industry
Ice harvesting vs refrigeration
Existing players are often searching for incremental value
Disrupters are moving to a new dimension of value
Connectivity / IoT might be a place where we’ve seen minimal incremental value, but might see transformational value
I think the smart home will eventually head towards transformational value
Maybe allowing us to not have to be sole owners / residents of our homes?

create a new organizational structure to pursue new dimensions of value
the slope of the curve for disruptive technologies is often higher than of existing technologies
