MIX provides a platform for multi-user, outdoor location-based augmented reality and multimedia art experiences. The platform provides a way for artists and institutions to create these location-based experiences that engage with the built environment, and provides users a map and ways to view and engage with those experiences.

Museums and galleries will be able to have extensions of their brick and mortar venues in AR, both with permanent and temporary AR exhibits. Digital artists will have the ability to release and place art themselves, and creative storytellers will be able to create episodic work.

AR and digital media experiences are low-cost compared to physical infrastructure. This platform is especially prepared and marketable in a nearby future where augmented reality glasses are comfortable, usable, and commonplace. MIX will also have an at-home AR experience that would make it so the platform can provide experiences both in public and at home.
