Mentioning race should be decreased in the long run

(better title pending)

It is important to acknowledge and understand the role of race. That being said, I believe our goal should be a reduction of the power we let race hold in all lives. This eventually also means mentioning race should be decreased in the long run.

(controversial, still debating internally)

This doesn’t mean we should be colorblind or ignore racial dynamics, issues, or anything of the sort. However, it does mean that we should think about how we refer to race.

One of the important first steps is that of For people, use adjectives over nouns. Instead of “Whites and Blacks”, most of us understand the subtle but important difference in saying “White people and Black people”. This is an example of us understanding that reducing the power of race in describing people is worthwhile.

A further example of this is “Those who call themselves White”.
